Terms of Service

1. What CatMaps is
CatMaps is a community platform for reporting stray, injured, missing, and found cats, and connecting reporters with verified rescues, TNR groups, and caretakers. By using CatMaps you agree to these Terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be 13 or older to create an account. Rescue, TNR, and caretaker roles require additional verification (501(c)(3) status or Instagram-based verification).
3. Your content
You keep ownership of the sightings, photos, comments, and other content you post. You grant CatMaps a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute your content for the purpose of running the service. Don't post anything you don't have the right to share.
4. Acceptable use
- No false sightings, harassment, threats, doxxing, or hate speech.
- No collecting users' contact info or location data outside CatMaps.
- No commercial promotion of unrelated services.
- No attempt to reverse-engineer exact pin locations from coarse data shown to spotters.
Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban.
5. Rescue obligations
Verified rescues, TNR groups, and caretakers who claim a case agree to act in good faith — to follow up, post status updates, and either complete the case or release it. Repeatedly abandoning cases may result in loss of verification.
6. Donations
Donations are held in escrow and released to the claiming rescue after a positive case outcome. See our Donor Terms for full refund mechanics.
7. Disclaimers
CatMaps is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that any sighting will be responded to, that any cat will be rescued, or that any rescue listed is currently operating. You use the service at your own risk.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CatMaps and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the service.
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced in-app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
